More than 500 fifth-graders in the Attalla City Schools have benefited from money raised through the Attalla Idol program since it began six years ago. The money raised through the singing contest has sent those children to summer camp — an opportunity many of them would not otherwise have, said Capt. Jerry Bone, the Attalla D.A.R.E. officer and coordinator of the Attalla Idol program.
